Privacy Policy

The short version

PhotoMate does not collect your personal data. Your photos and videos are analysed entirely on your device and are never uploaded, copied or transmitted anywhere. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking.

Your photos and videos

PhotoMate needs access to your photo library to do its job: comparing images against each other to find duplicates and near-identical shots, and reading file sizes to tell you how much space you would get back.

All of that happens on the device. The app derives a small numeric fingerprint from a thumbnail of each photo in order to compare images; those fingerprints stay on the device, are stored only in the app's own cache, and are deleted along with the app. No photo, video, thumbnail or fingerprint is ever sent off your device.

PhotoMate deletes photos only when you ask it to, and only after iOS shows its own confirmation. Deleted items go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app for 30 days, exactly as they would if you deleted them yourself.

Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.

To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, which processes a randomly generated app user identifier, your device vendor identifier and your purchase history for that app. This is used only to keep your subscription working across your devices — not for advertising, profiling or tracking.

What we do not do

No advertising. No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. No tracking across apps or websites — the app does not ask for tracking permission because it has nothing to track. We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not have any to sell.

Data stored on your device

PhotoMate keeps a cache of its last scan and a counter of how many items you have cleaned on the free tier. Both live in the app's own storage on your device. Deleting the app removes them.

Children

PhotoMate is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or erase on request. Data held by Apple or RevenueCat in connection with your purchase is covered by their respective privacy policies.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
